Apple announces that they will be launching the Research app today in the US, which already has three studies for hearing, women’s health and heart and movement. Interested individuals will be able to contribute by downloading and enabling the app on their iPhone.
The Research app is now available for those in the United States. To download, simply head to the App Store and look for ‘Research’, which should be a free app. You can enroll in various studies and use your Apple Watch or iPhone to record noise levels, heart rate and movement in your daily activity.
Apple reiterates that the Research app will only collect data when the user gives his or her consent. An enrollment screen will pop up and explain how the user’s data will be used and how they could control data per study. Furthermore, Apple says that they will never sell the data to third parties.
